Honoring NHTI’s Dr. Thurston J. Carpenter Scholarship Recipients

Northeast Delta Dental is excited to honor two recipients attending New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) who were recently awarded our Dr. Thurston J. Carpenter Scholarship at NHTI’s Fall 2021 Scholarship Awards Presentation. Margaux Stevenson, a student studying Dental Hygiene, and Marissa Fyten, a student pursuing a career as a Dental Assistant, were among the latest cohort of recipients of more than a dozen NHTI scholarships.

“Without your support, I wouldn’t be able to achieve the grades necessary to fulfil my professional ambition of becoming a Registered Dental Hygienist. Thank you for your continued investment in my future,” exclaims Stevenson. The Northeast Delta Dental “Dr. Thurston J. Carpenter Scholarship Fund” was created in 2008 and fully endowed in 2011. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students of the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs at NHTI who are residents of New Hampshire, Maine or Vermont, hold a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed a Financial Aid FAFSA form.

“Kathy Walker and Jennifer McGrath worked tirelessly alongside their colleagues to build an endowment for this scholarship and demonstrate how important scholarships are for people going to Community Colleges. This fund, named after a former dental consultant, began awarding annual scholarships nine years ago to one dental hygiene and one dental assisting student. Northeast Delta Dental established this fund because dental offices and their patients benefit when well-trained dental auxiliary professionals are available. We wanted to help students whose financial challenges made it difficult for them to train for their careers. Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients,” lauds Tom Raffio, President and CEO of Northeast Delta Dental.

NHTI – Concord’s Community College continues to create pathways for lifelong learning, career advancement, and civic engagement, offering 80+ academic programs to 4,600+ students annually. We look forward to seeing the Dr. Thurston J. Carpenter Scholarship make a huge impact for years to come.
