Two organizations that have served the State of New Hampshire invaluably for decades recognized Northeast Delta Dental this spring. New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility (NHBSR) and Campus Compact New Hampshire (CCNH) turned their spotlights on us with accolades that we appreciate and feel honored to have received; however, we’d like to turn those spotlights back around to shine on them.
At a March 9 Sustainability Awards event NHBSR recognized Northeast Delta Dental as a Governance and Transparency Finalist primarily because we pay attention to all our stakeholders. Our stakeholders are essential to our success, and we communicate with them often and in a variety of ways. We ask for their feedback and frequently incorporate their suggestions. During the pandemic, we asked what our stakeholders needed most and helped whenever and however we could. Engaging with and supporting stakeholders is one of the tenets of social responsibility.
Increasingly, businesses recognize the importance of integrating social responsibility with other core business principles. Since the 1980s, NHBSR has been the business organization driving the social responsibility agenda in New Hampshire. It inspires and supports businesses and their community networks to build a more sustainable and prosperous state for all of us. Its programming is dynamic, innovative, and diverse. One of the many ways it promotes social responsibility is by convening conferences and award events attended by business leaders throughout the state.
On April 12, CCNH recognized Northeast Delta Dental with one of its Presidents’ Community Partner awards at a gathering of students, faculty, staff, presidents, and community partners from member colleges and universities honoring organizations that have partnered with a member campus to enhance community life in meaningful and measurable ways and have developed sustained and reciprocal partnerships to meet community needs. We have a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship with NHTI – Concord’s Community College, our Concord campus neighbor.
Founded in 1997, CCNH is a statewide consortium of college and university presidents and private-sector partners united in a commitment to deepen the ability of colleges and universities to educate students for civic and social responsibility. Through the dedication of its resources, training, grants, and capacity building, it works to connect campuses and communities in ways that address pressing social needs and improve student learning. It collaborates closely with the New Hampshire College & University Council, the New Hampshire Department of Education, Volunteer NH!, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and the national Campus Compact organization. The New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation is one of the sponsors of CCNH. Learn more at Campus Compact NH Community Partner Award.
