I’ve been keeping in shape all winter with runs in the cold and snow. Now that the days are growing longer and grass is reappearing, I hope everyone comes out to run. I ran in two races held in New Hampshire this past weekend – the 12th Annual Gilmanton 5K in which I did a 24:43 on a challenging, hilly course, and the new Shamrock Shuffle in Manchester, a flat two-miler from one end to the other and back again on Elm Street in which I did 14:18. 275 runners were in Gilmanton, and the first ever Shamrock Shuffle drew nearly 1,300 participants. Northeast Delta Dental sponsors both of these races, along with many more in the 2011 Capital Area Race Series; next up is the SEA 5K this Saturday, April 2. Running is a great wellness sport and fits right into our strategy of getting our oral health message out at the grassroots level.
