Charitable Runs

I ran, along with over 2,000 other participants, in the April 29 five-mile memorial fund-raiser for fallen Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on April 12, 2012. He was a 26 year veteran of law enforcement and was just days away from his planned retirement. While running is typically an individual sport and is beneficial to the runner health-wise, a valuable community benefit of organized road races is the monetary support provided for significant causes. From this April 29 run, over $45,000 was raised for a trust fund in Chief Maloney’s name. I’d like to recognize and thank Millennium Timing for donating their services to this run/walk; I placed 115 out of 1,986 who crossed the finish line, with a time of 44:13.31, a 7:54 pace.

I also ran in the 8th Annual NHTI/Delta Dental 5k on April 20. Here I am crossing the finish line at 23:45 with a pace of 7:39; I was 100th out of 414 runners. This race benefits the New Hampshire Technical Institute Sports Management Club and Jen Kemp Memorial Scholarship Fund.
